The National Health Corps (NHC) is an AmeriCorps National Direct program whose mission is to increase access to health care for underserved communities, promote health, reduce health care costs and develop new health care professionals.  Founded in 1994, the NHC has 88 members serving at sites in Chicago, North Florida, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.  NHC members serve at over 60 community host sites including community health centers, county health departments, schools and community-based public health organizations.
