Young Child and Parent Project (YCP)

Young Child Parent

The Health Federation of Philadelphia Young Child and Parent Project (YCPP) provides evidence-based interventions, cross-systems collaboration, and training in two counties of Pennsylvania with severe substance use and child welfare challenges.

Clinical interventions for YCPP combine two evidence-based interventions: Mothering from the Inside Out and Child Parent Psychotherapy (MIO-CPP). These services are offered to families enrolled in residential substance use disorder (SUD) treatment services.

Target Population:

Individuals who are pregnant or parenting; enrolled in residential substance use disorder treatment in Philadelphia and Bucks counties; and with children, ages 0-5, at risk of or receiving child welfare services (including prevention or in-home services).

Key Program Services:

  • Mothering from the Inside Out
  • Child-Parent Psychotherapy
  • Case management
  • Adult screening and assessment related to addiction, trauma, depression, and parenting
  • Child screening and assessment related to trauma

Goal:

  • Improve well-being, permanency, and safety outcomes for young children either at risk of or already involved in the child welfare systems in Philadelphia and Bucks counties and affected by pre and postnatal maternal substance use disorders.

Objectives:

  • increase parental child attachment and reflective functioning;
