Miya

In her role as the Home Visiting Intake and Outreach Coordinator, Miya is one of the first points of interaction for new or expectant mothers looking for a home visiting program.   In the short time Miya speaks with clients on the phone, she develops rapport with clients that enable them to trust her ability to help not only with home visiting program placement but to meet other needs that support their overall well-being.  This allows Miya to do one of her favorite things; truly listening to families and understanding their needs.

When Miya hears a particular need from a family, she quickly goes into her expertly curated “Favorites Folders” on the Connect4Health platform.  She says that, “Folders help keep me organized and minimize the time looking for information”.  Once Miya finds a resource that will help, she stays on the phone while she connects the client to the food, housing, or utilities programs to ensure that they don’t leave the call without everything they need. When Miya finds a new program, she will make sure to add them to her folders to ensure that they are always up to date.  Miya has even supported families looking for home visiting programs in different counties and states, something that would’ve been much harder before!
