JOB SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant will provide general ledger oversight and grant management support to meet the organization’s reporting requirements.  This position requires managing financial requirements and monitoring financial reporting accurately.  The Staff Accountant must exercise high confidentiality and sound judgment in safeguarding company records and working with grantors, grantees, and Health Federation staff. 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

               Responsibilities/Duties

  • Performs monthly balance sheet reconciliations and general accounting functions.
  • Reconciles bank accounts, cash receipts, and disbursements.
  • Prepares and uploads bi-weekly payroll and labor distribution entries.
  • Updates and maintains financial reporting schedules.
  • Provide support for the month-end close process.
  • Manages, reconciles, and uploads American Express purchases.
  • Prepares audit support schedules.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business

Skills/Experience

  • Must possess 3+ years of general ledger management experience.
  • Knowledge of federal grant compliance and requirements.
  • Experience with non-profit accounting, Blackbaud Financial Edge software a plus.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with a team are essential.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to meet required deadlines

Work Environment:  Standard office setting with extended periods at the station and periodic use of office equipment.

Position Type and Work Schedule:  Full-time position: typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.  Flex office schedule options are available with supervisor approval.

Travel:  Occasional travel to off-site locations.

Physical Demands:  Ability to transport materials routinely moves equipment or supplies weighing up to 30 lbs.
